Hasanie elected BCCC president

Ali Abbas Hasanie from Quebec has been elected president of the Board of Control for Cricket in Canada (BCCC), a new-launched parallel national governing body, it was announced in Toronto last week.

BCCC also announced it had changed its name from Canadian Cricket Federation.

BCCC elected a six-member executive council with Hasanie (from Quebec) as its president and Gulwant Bajwa (from Ottawa) as first vice president, says a media release.

It said BCCC aims at developing and excelling the game of cricket to its highest level in Canada and to facilitate and build facilities in major centres.

It further said the body is focused on hosting national and international tournaments in Canada in addition to providing equal opportunity to cricketers to compete at international level.

Following are the executive council members:

Ali Abbas Hasanie (President), Gulwant Singh Bajwa (First Vice President), Amjad Javed Bajwa (Second Vice President), Aizaz Ahmed (Third Vice President), Yudhvir Jaswal (Secretary) and Wazir Khullar (Treasurer).

Directors:

Denzel Dixon (Seniors Program), Parveen Sharma (Junior Program), Gulshan Kumar Sethi (Media and Promotion), Rita Jethi (Women's Program), Marlene Gallyot (Special Projects), Atul Ahuja (Legal Council - not former CEO of CC) and Ashish Prabhakar (Legal Council).
