100,000 turn out for Malton parade

An estimated 100,000 members of the Sikh community turned out for the annual Khalsa Day parade in Malton over the weekend.The march began at the Malton Sikh Temple (Sri Guru Singh Sabha Malton) on Airport Rd. There were prayers, hymns and a free meal that's served in accordance with the Sikh tradition of sharing.Later, drummers, floats and thousands of festively dressed Sikhs poured onto Morning Star Dr to form a procession that made its way to the Rexdale Gurdwara at Hwy 27 and Finch Ave.
